Stephen lives in Oxfordshire and joined the Token team in the summer of 2019 as Strategic Account Director. He spends his free time chasing his three year old son around playgrounds and soft play in Oxfordshire, enjoying sports like football, rugby and cricket and playing a little tennis quite badly!
What was your last role before you joined Token?
Eight years of growing card acceptance in Western Europe for a global card scheme with cross border partners including acquirers and PSPs.
What is your role at Token?
Strategic Account Director.
Why did you join Token?
I believe that Open Banking is hitting a 'sweet spot' whereby technology capability and regulation are aligning, and Token is extremely well placed to be successful in this emerging marketplace.
What do you like most about working at Token?
There is a shared purpose and vision at Token, and a positive attitude towards supporting our business partners.
If you could switch jobs with anyone else at Token, whose job would you want? Why?
I am in my first year with Token so I am very focussed on making my area successful, not looking at switching right now!
What has surprised you the most about working in our industry?
In general the open banking community is very positive about the wide potential for innovative user cases over the next few years - there is so much more focus on future innovation than other areas of financial services.
What's your one prediction for the future of technology?
The pace of change in banking services technology has never been quicker than it is today however at the same time it will never be slower than it is today.
